Cameron Norrie triumphed over local favorite Kyrian Jacquet at the Moselle Open on Thursday in a challenging match lasting two hours and 25 minutes. As the last remaining seed at the ATP 250 event, Norrie clinched victory by winning the final 11 points.
“He surprised me a lot. He was mixing it up really well. A lot of slicing, then really aggressive at moments. His serve is really, really good," Norrie said of Jacquet, the third French player he has defeated this week.
Jacquet delivered 48 winners, half from his forehand, compared to Norrie’s 28. Despite this, Norrie, 30, played his best tennis when it mattered most, securing his spot in the semifinals.
Lorenzo Sonego, the 2022 Metz champion, also remains a contender in the tournament. Norrie is pursuing his sixth tour-level title and first since winning in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final.
#NextGenATP star Learner Tien defeated Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 44 minutes to reach his second tour-level semifinal. This was their first Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting, with the 19-year-old converting all three break points he earned.
“According to Infosys ATP Stats, Tien converted all three break points he earned,” emphasizing his strong performance.
