Vincent J. McMahon was a professional wrestling promoter and businessman who owned the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, a predecessor to the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF), which later became the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as WWE. As a promoter, his company was part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), but he eventually broke away to form an independent promotion. He was the father of Vincent K. McMahon, who also became a prominent figure in professional wrestling. He played a significant role in launching the careers of wrestlers such as Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales. Vincent J. McMahon passed away in 1984.
His work helped shape the early structure of modern American professional wrestling by moving from the National Wrestling Alliance system toward an independent promotion model. The Capitol Wrestling Corporation later evolved into the WWWF and then WWF, forming the basis of today’s WWE. His influence also extended through his son, Vincent K. McMahon, who continued to grow the industry and expand its global reach.
