Richard Carapaz claimed stage 18 with a breakaway ride up the Alps. Overall leader Tadej Pogačar still keeps yellow. Mads Pedersen pads his lead on the green jersey race. Jonas Vingegaard gave away points in the mountains race. A spectator ran onto the the road approaching the top. Carapaz was forced to swerve clear at the last moment. The fallout came two kilometres out from the summit. No one crashed. Leaders rolled straight on.
