Rescue teams now warn the area has sudden, strong currents that can pull swimmers down. A local resident said a recent drowning nearby made him issue a safety alert. Police also think a another girl might be unaccounted for from the same spot. In Maine, a lobsterman said his dog rescued a trapped seagull out of the water. Out in Los Angeles, a famous face was spotted socializing with friends. In North Carolina, a busy dog adoption event drew families for the holiday.
